Japanese

Course

The 18 holes of Ranzan Country Club is a championship golf course having strategic layouts. The course consists of a flat front nine and a hilly back nine. Its undulating fairways contribute to increased difficulty of play.

In our golf course, every hole has 2 putting greens, i.e., the A green and the B green. This "Japanese two green system" is unique and used in many old Japanese golf courses. Japanese Architects used to design one green to play in summer, and the other green to play in winter.
In our early days, the grass species were Zoysia matrella on the summer green and bent grass on the winter green. However, recent advance in the maintenance technology for bent grass make us grow creeping bent grass in summer. The grass species in the summer green is now the Art -1 creeping bent grass, and the Crystal creeping bent grass beautifully grows in the winter green. Thus, we call the summer green as "A green", and the winter green as "B green", and enjoy playing on both greens all season.

Using the A green, we have hosted the Japan Open Golf Championship in 1984 and the Japan Senior Open Golf Championship in 2006. The B green was used to take place the Kanto Open Golf Championship in 1972.
